LION AND UNICORN THEATRE IS NOW PROGRAMMING FOR 2027
We’re now open for submissions for 2027 at the Lion & Unicorn Theatre. We programme a wide range of fringe theatre throughout the year, from scratch nights and works-in-progress to one-off performances, full runs and festival previews.
For 2027, we’re particularly interested in:
• One-week runs with strong concepts and brave, story-lead shows. • Scratch nights, new work and works-in-progress
• Camden Fringe shows and Edinburgh Fringe previews
• Longer runs with producers attached
• Companies interested in taking part in HERE | FOR 2027 (details TBC)
And if your show doesn’t quite fit one of those boxes, we’d still like to hear about it.
We’re looking for artists and companies with a clear vision for the work they want to make, and something exciting to bring.

SUBMISSIONS OPEN FOR EN ROUTE'S NEW WRITING EVENING AT GOLDEN GOOSE THEATRE
Submit Your Scene for En Route’s Next New Writing Night: Setting Sail, 19th December, 7:30 PM at The Golden Goose Theatre
We’re looking for short scenes (10–15 minutes) with up to 6 characters to showcase at our next New Writing Night.
Please note: we cannot accept submissions from writers based outside London unless they have a reliable local contact who can organise rehearsals on their behalf.
- Writers are welcome to submit finished scenes or excerpts.
- We offer 4 hours of rehearsal time, as well as photos and video of your scene.
- If you don’t already have a team, we can help connect you with actors and directors.
- Once a team is secured, the person who submitted the piece will be responsible for collecting everyone’s availability, organising rehearsals, and acting as the main point of contact with the En Route team ahead of the event.
Please also note that The Golden Goose Theatre is a fringe venue, meaning technical resources (lighting, sound, and props) are limited. Please keep this in mind when submitting your piece to avoid over-relying on technical elements down the line.

WRITE CLUB AT THE HOPE, SUBMISSIONS NOW OPEN FOR JANUARY 2027
Write Club is our yearly festival of new work that highlights bold new stories with BIG ideas. It is open to anyone with a piece of writing just waiting for that debut performance or a theatre maker with a new idea. Up to thirty shows are selected by The Hope Theatre’s Literary Team and each show successfully selected for the Festival will be given a run of two - four shows or a rehearsed reading. In addition, each writer doing a full run will be given support from the venue and get feedback from established playwrights .

CALLING ALL WRITERS FOR SCRATCH NIGHT AT LION & UNICORN THEATRE
NOTHING THEATRE are officially opening submissions for their very first scratch night, taking over the lion & unicorn theatre on 10th january 2027.
They’re looking to programme six 10-minute pieces across the night. whether you’ve written a drama, a comedy, something in verse or something that isn’t even a play at all, they wanna see it!

We run the monthly Bread & Roses Playwrights Circle, a friendly and supportive group in which playwrights can share their work and work-in-progress, as well as a biennial Playwriting Award for full-length plays and a biannual scratch night The Platform for short plays. NewsRevue is the world’s longest running live comedy show at it's home in Canal Cafe Theatre, Little Venice, Edinburgh Fringe and the West End. This current affairs parody song and sketch show is acknowledged as a “rite of passage for all comedy newcomers” (Chortle).
