Review: I HEART MICHAEL BALL at the Etcetera Theatre 5 - 7 August 2022 / Camden Fringe Festival
‘Excellent - creepy – entertainment’ ★★★ ½
It is the tenth bi-annual meeting of the Michael Ball Appreciation Society, and our host Alex has invited us into his lovely home to appreciate the golden tones of the great MB, to share the love, to buy the merch, and to listen to the story of Alex, his big brother, and the role played by MB in making their life bearable.
Alexander Millington looks the epitome of harmless, his knowledge of the work of Mr. Ball is encyclopaedic, his enthusiasm is infectious, and the secrets he conceals are well worked and elegantly revealed. It’s a very funny, quite charming show which has genuine moments of engagement with the real, it has some proper shocks, and it is still liable to have an audience leave humming selections from Les Mis.
