‘a highly promising debut play’ ★★★★
In the store-room of a nifty new coffee shop, two people with problematic mental histories come together, drift apart, give each other solace and healing, give each other pains in the neck and rejection, get better. And in one instance get to make a mean croissant.
This is the debut work of Hayley Scott, and a highly promising debut it certainly is. Unflashily, but effectively directed by Sofia Gallucci, and played with great warmth and delicacy by David Bourne and Emily Jackson, the company take a topic that could easily have turned mawkish and kept it on track and very relatable.
A thoroughly engaging, thoroughly entertaining hour of theatre, with some impressive juggling of cardboard box set pieces.
